That model, constantly updated by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington takes into account the effectiveness of social distancing and Governor Tony Evers' ongoing "Safer at Home" order, but it has not yet factored in any potential case spike tied to Tuesday's Election Day and in-person voting taking place statewide.
The new model on Tuesday projects that 644 Wisconsinites will lose their lives due to coronavirus-related issues by August 4. That's down significantly from the model one week ago which projected that 935 Wisconsinites would lose their lives.
Tuesday's model has also moved the projected peak up by 10 days from one week ago when the IHME model projected that peak hospital usage statewide would begin April 27.
The current model continues to project that Wisconsin will be short by 130 ICU beds during the state's peak.
