A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued for southern Ohio tonight into Friday morning.

Discussion: A weak, clipper-type system currently moving through the Midwest will skirt into southern Ohio late tonight into Friday. This system as trended farther south and predominately will impact areas south of I-70 with a light accumulation of snow. The snow will begin after dark across southwest Ohio and gradually spread north and east into the night and the first half of the day Friday. Around 1 to 2 inches of snow will fall near the Ohio River up to the US Highway 35 corridor and a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been posted in this area. The rest of central and southeast Ohio will see only light snow accumulations of generally 1 inch or less. Little if any snow is expected across northern Ohio. The snow may mix with or briefly change to rain before ending Friday as temperatures climb into the upper 30s to lower 40s. Much of the state will have a quick break from the precipitation late Friday into Saturday with strong southerly winds developing, bringing up milder air. Temperatures will climb into the 50s across much of Ohio this weekend. Rain is expected to develop late Saturday into Saturday night and may become heavy at times. A few thunderstorms will even be possible south of I-70 Saturday evening. The rain will end early Sunday with blustery winds bringing back cooler air. Wind gusts Saturday night into Sunday could top 40 mph. Cooler but calmer weather is expected to start the new week.

Tonight –  A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY will go into effect across southern Ohio this evening and continue into Friday morning. Light snow will spread across southern Ohio tonight with 1 to 2 inches falling in far southern Ohio. Up to 1 inch of snow will be possible up to the I-70 corridor with little to no snow accumulation expected across northern Ohio. Temperatures will dip into the middle 20s overnight.

Friday – Patchy light snow will start the day across the southern 2/3rds of the state. Little if any additional snow accumulation is expected. As temperatures rise, the snow may mix with or change to some light rain before ending with highs reaching to near 40 degrees. Clouds will slowly break Friday night.

Saturday – The day will start breezy and warmer with clouds on the increase. Rain will develop late in the day and into the evening from west to east. A rumble or two of thunder will be possible across southern Ohio late Saturday. Gusty winds will pump temperatures into the 50s across much of Ohio. Rain will be heavier Saturday night.

Sunday – Rain will taper off early with a chance for a few flurries across northern Ohio by Sunday evening. Temperatures will start the day in the 50s but fall late in the day as a cold front swings through the area. Gusty winds of up to or perhaps over 40mph will be likely.

Monday – A breezy, cooler day is expected with partly cloudy skies. High temperatures will hold in the 40s.

Tuesday – Lots of sunshine is expected with high temperatures climbing into the middle 40s north to near 50 degrees across southern Ohio.
