HOLDEN, Mass. - The Wachusett girls basketball team is on a magical ride, the Mountaineers graduated 7 seniors from last year's team including two who are playing college basketball, so expectations were not high for this years team, but here they are preparing for the state semi-finals.  The Mountaineers know they don't have to do anything different than they have done all year, just play their game.  "A lot of energy,"  said Guard Jaelynn Scott, "we just have to talk and communicate and play how we know how to play."

"You know keep going in practice, keep doing what our coaches say,"  said Guard Sophie Gibbons, "they really give us a good plan and preparation, so we just have to keep executing and giving our all."

"We've got to play great defense,"  said Head Coach Jim Oxford, "we've got to not give teams easy shots, we can't make mistakes mentally or physically on the floor."

Wachusett plays Braintree on Tuesday at 6:30 at Woburn High School.

Also Worcester Academy made history over the weekend with both the boys and girls basketball teams winning the NEPSAC class AA Championship the same season for the first time in school history.  The girls team beat Darrow 59-57 and the boys team beat CATS 68-64.
