COLUMBUS, Ohio — Between midnight Dec. 23 and 11:59 p.m. Dec. 25, two people died in crashes in Ohio, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol press release.
It notes that one person was not wearing a seat belt.
It’s not a direct comparison due to a longer measurement period, but from Dec. 22 to 25 last year, 12 people died in accidents in Ohio.
The reporting period also included the following:
- 44 people arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired
- 11 people arrested for illegal drugs
- 84 citations issued for seat belt violations
- 31 citations issued for driving violations
- 434 drivers assisted on Ohio roads by OSHP troopers
“The public is encouraged to continue using #677 to report dangerous or impaired drivers, as well as drug activity,” the release reads.
