“Our community lost two heroes this year, and it is important that their families know how grateful we are for the service and sacrifice that Officer Ritter and Officer Derbin gave to all of us here in Northeast Ohio,” Local 93 President Jake Konys said in the release. “We look forward to supporting our Police Brothers and Sisters at this charity hockey game and invite all members of the public to join us.”

Officer Ritter, 27, was shot and killed while responding to a call back in July. Officer Derbin, 23, was shot and killed back in May while responding to a disturbance call.

The release states the teams will consist of firefighters and police from Cleveland, Euclid “and the surrounding suburban first responder community.”
