OHIO — As of Monday, the Ohio Secretary of State's office reports more than 2.5 million Ohioans have voted early for the November election.

Of the votes, 995,482 were absentee ballots that were returned and more than 1.5 million were people who voted early in person.

In total, 2,532,260 voted early for Tuesday's election.

In the 2020 general election, nearly 2.2 million Ohio citizens voted by absentee and over 1.3 million Ohioans voted early in person, according to the Ohio Legislative Services Commission. Almost 6 million of the more than 8 million registered voters at the time participated in the election, totaling 74% turnout — the highest in the previous five elections.

The early voting numbers in the 2024 election surpass the 2016 numbers, when less than 1.9 million voters voted early.

Polls open across Ohio on Tuesday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
