CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Police Foundation (CPF) Heroes Fund is accepting donations in honor of fallen Cleveland Police Officer Jamieson Ritter.

Ritter, a native of upstate New York, was killed last week while responding to a call about a male wanted for felonious assault. He was shot while he and other officers were attempting to arrest the suspect and was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

“To honor Officer Ritter’s memory, we are inviting our community to donate to the Cleveland Police Foundation’s Heroes Fund in memory of Police Officer Ritter,” CPF Chair and President Dick Clough said in a CPF press release. “Our Foundation will provide support to Officer Ritter’s family. He is a real hero and deserves our respect. He gave his life in the line of duty while serving the community he came to love.”

The fund offers support in the event of an officers’ death or injury in the line of duty to both officers and their families. The release states that Ritter “served our community with dedication and bravery.”
