CLEVELAND — De'Lawnte Hardy, 24, has been charged with aggravated murder for the death of Cleveland Police Officer Jamieson Ritter, 27.

He was given a $5 million bond by a Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Friday.

Police say Ritter was shot as officers were responding to a call on the 1500 block of East 80th Street about a male wanted for felonious assault early Thursday morning. Ritter was struck by gunfire and taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. He had been in the department for four years.

Hardy had been taken to the hospital and cleared with no injuries.
