CINCINNATI — The Hamilton County Coroner's Office confirmed that the man who was believed to have been hit by a Kings Island roller coaster on Wednesday, June 19 has died.

The coroner said 38-year-old Arntanaro Nelson, of Wilmington, Ohio, died Friday from a "suspected accident" at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Kings Island wrote in a statement last week that Nelson had entered a restricted area near the Bansee roller coaster and was possibly hit by the ride around 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

Kings Island, Mason police and the Ohio Department of Agriculture's Division of Amusement Ride Safety and Fairs are investigating the accident. The ride remains closed until further notice.

"The park's safety and first aid personnel responded immediately to the situation and contacted local emergency responders," the park said in a news release last week.

The Banshee is the world's longest steel inverted roller coaster, according to King's Island, at 4,124 feet long. The ride has seven inversions, a 167 foot lift hill; 150 foot first drop and multiple loops. The coaster reaches speeds of up to 68 mph.
