DAYTON, Ohio — The City of Kettering will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Gentile Nature Park on June 8, which has taken decades to come to fruition.

The ceremony will run from 10 a.m. to noon and will include food and beverage trucks, free garden gloves while supplies last and an opportunity to help plant tree saplings around the park.

The park, which is at 915 Peach Orchard Rd., had its groundbreaking in July 2023. The area has a long history, going all the way back to the 1800s, according to the City of Kettering. Once the city acquired the parcel fo land in 2000, it went through several plans over the next 20 years to figure out what to turn the land into.

Gentile Nature Park will have a variety of features, including:

  • Playground areas
  • One-half mile walking path
  • Open lawn green space
  • Bike connection to the path off of Wiltshire Boulevard
  • Parking spots and street parking nearby
