DAYTON, Ohio — The City of Dayton announced this week that its Department of Planning, Neighborhoods and Development is seeking approval to construct affordable homes in Old North Dayton in partnership with Cincinnati-based Civitas Development Group LLC.

According to the city, the proposed project — which would be a Dayton Recovery Plan Subrecipient Agreement — would cost $4 million and would build 16 family-friendly homes in what's called "The Point" in the area. The homes would be placed on the northeast corner of Keowee and Valley streets, and there will be parking lots behind the buildings.

Old North Dayton is in the northeast part of the city between the Great Miami and Mad rivers. The area is close to downtown Dayton as well.

The city said the Dayton Recovery Plan will invest $1.5 million into the project after the city commission gave approval on Wednesday. The funds will be used for construction and predevelopment services to build the homes.

The Dayton Recovery Plan is the city's framework to help invest back into the city. The Dayton Recovery Plan's investment data is now available on the city's website.
