OHIO — At least five tornadoes touched down during Wednesday's storms, according to the National Weather Service.

  • Two EF-1 tornadoes touched down in Delaware County and Portage County

  • Two EF-0 tornadoes hit Champaign County and Trumbull County
  • An EF-1 tornado touched down in Bucyrus
  • More details will be released later on as surveys continue, NWS said

An EF-1 tornado hit far southeast Delaware County, Ohio, with much of the damage hitting along Fancher Road. NWS said it had max wind speeds of 90 mph. 

Another EF-1 touched down in Portage County, Ohio, in Windham. The NWS said this tornado tracked four miles with winds reaching 110 mph. 

In Champaign County, an EF-0 tornado left damage in the vicinity of Perry Road north of US 36. 

The second EF-0 tornado touched down in Southington & Champion Townships, tracking nearly three miles in Trumbull County. 

An EF-1 tornado touched down in Bucyrus and tracked for approximately 3.5 miles in Crawford County. According to NWS, the tornado tracked northeast and crossed the Sandusky River where it strengthened and managed to move a house off of its foundation. A roof collapsed onto a convenience store in downtown Bucyrus with roof damage also done to the post office.

NWS said surveys remain ongoing, as many areas were hit during the storms. Parts of northern Ohio, especially Bucyrus and Windham, sustained damaged to homes, had fallen trees and downed power lines. Some neighborhoods were without power for some time.

NWS said more details are expected to come out this afternoon. Other areas being surveyed include Crawford and Trumbull counties.
