MARLBORO TWP., Ohio — A school bus loaded with 19 Marlington High School and middle school students overturned on Monday afternoon, causing minor injuries to some students and the driver, the Marlington Local School District reported in a release.

The bus overturned into a ditch on the corner of Columbus Road and Reeder Avenue in Marlboro Township, the school district said.

Emergency services evaluated all students on the bus. The driver and five students who had minor cuts and bruises were transported to Akron Children's Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton and Aultman Hospital in Canton.

Thirteen students were released to their families and one student went home on a separate bus, the district said.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Stark County Sheriff's Office, local authorities and district administration are investigating the accident.

The school district said it implemented its protocols for bus accidents.

The school bus driver was cited for failure to control a motor vehicle, highway patrol said.

In late August, an elementary school bus in Clark County overturned after an oncoming van crossed the yellow line, causing the bus to veer off the road.

That crash left 23 students hospitalized and one student dead. The driver of the van is charged with felony vehicular homicide.
