COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the first time in the 2022 season, an Ohio State player was named Big 10 Conference Freshman of the Week.
Running back Dallan Hayden was named co-freshman of the week along with Penn State running back Kaytron Allen after Hayden’s monstrous second half pushed the Buckeyes to a 43-30 win against Maryland.

Hayden ran for a career-high 147 yards and three touchdowns in the game.
All of his scores and all but 3 yards gained came in the second half, including 76 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Hayden is the first Ohio State freshman to win the award since C.J. Stroud won the award almost exactly a year before on Nov. 22, 2021.
He is the ninth Buckeye to win conference weekly honors during the 2022 season.
