COLUMBUS, Ohio — A group of bills passed in the Ohio House on Wednesday included House Bill 468, which would establish 9-8-8, a suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline system in Ohio.

The bill, which was introduced by State Rep. Gail Pavliga, R-Portage County, passed unanimously, 90-0, and will next head to the Ohio Senate.

The 9-8-8 would be funded by appropriations made by the Ohio General Assembly, and money awarded to the state by donation, gift or bequest, and interest or other earnings on the fund.

The bill also says money in the 9-8-8 fund is not subject to transfer to any other fund, and any money remaining in the fund, including interest at the end of each fiscal year shall not revert to the general revenue fund but shall remain in the fund.
