CLEVELAND — A Texas grand jury declined to charge new Browns QB Deshaun Watson with any criminal charges, Brazoria County District Attorney Tom Selleck announced.
In a statement, Selleck called the matter “closed.”
“After a careful and thorough review of the facts and evidence documented in the reports prepared by the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office and the Houston Police Department, as well as hearing testimony from witnesses, the Grand Jury for Brazoria County has declined to charge Deshaun Watson with any crimes,” Selleck said.
Watson has reportedly faced sexual misconduct allegations from 22 women. While Watson is clear on criminal charges, he still faces a civil lawsuit tied to the allegations.
The Browns signed Watson to a five-year contract late last week after trading with the Texans. He arrived in Cleveland Thursday for a physical, the Associated Press reports. He has yet to have an introductory news conference since joining the Browns.
