The foundation announced in a video in late 2020 it had purchased the iconic Tangier performance and banquet facility to create a multi-use complex, extending the offerings of the nearby I Promise School.

The foundation opened the I Promise School in 2018 through a partnership with the Akron Public School system. With a “We are family” motto, the school offers at-risk Akron students and their families an array of wrap-around services, from family-first programming to academic interventions, to give kids greater opportunities for success.

The foundation also operates the nearby I Promise Village, which provides transitional housing for I Promise families dealing with homelessness.

House Three Thirty is designed to serve as a hub, bringing several resources under one roof for I Promise families and the community, including financial-health programming, job training, and community gathering spaces, the foundation said. It also will provide space for I Promise monthly meals and family programming.

When House Three Thirty is complete it will offer:

  •  JPMorgan Chase Community Space — an area for Chase to provide specialized financial advice and products for I Promise family members
  •  Smucker Hometown Hall — a space for private and community events
  • The Taco Shop by Old El Paso — a fast-casual restaurant for families to gather and to continue the Taco Tuesdays tradition
  •  The Sweet Shop — a store with local offerings, such as Mitchell’s Ice Cream, Metropolis Gourmet Popcorn, NORKA Beverages and Malley’s Chocolates
  • The Den by Mainstreet Advisors & LOBOS 1707 — a private space for special occasions
  •  The Wine Room by mDesign — another small, private space
  • Community-model coffee shop — details to come
  • LeBron James Museum by Upper Deck — a museum housing never-before-seen items from LeBron James’ life
  • The Cabaret — a performance area for the I Promise program, and for musical acts and open mic nights

All the resources at House Three Thirty are designed to offer job training opportunities to prepare I Promise parents, guardians and family members for careers, the foundation said.
