The reported trade comes after the Texans announced Friday that quarterback Deshaun Watson is headed to Cleveland. The Browns and NFL have not confirmed the trade as of Saturday afternoon.
Keenum backed up Baker Mayfield in 2021, and started twice as Mayfield battled injuries.
Earlier this week, Mayfield sent a thank you note to fans. Later in the week, Mayfield told ESPN that he was requesting a trade. As of Saturday, Mayfield remains on the Browns roster.
Keenum went 2-0 as a starter in 2021 and received praise from coach Kevin Stefanski for stepping up in Mayfield’s absence.
