CLEVELAND — For the first time since 2019, the annual Cleveland St. Patrick Day Parade will march into downtown Thursday starting at 1:04 p.m.

  • Organizers are recycling the theme of the 2020 parade as groups spent months preparing their floats for the theme

  • Parking restrictions begin downtown at 8 a.m. Thursday, with road closures starting at 9 a.m.

The parade will start at the intersection of Superior Avenue and East 18th Street and move southwest toward downtown. The parade will continue on Superior Avenue before turning right onto West Roadway and then ending at the corner of Rockwell Avenue and Ontario Street. 

The theme of this year’s parade will be Ireland’s Scenic Coastlines, which was intended to be the theme of the 2020 parade that was canceled due to COVID-19. Parade organizers said groups spent months preparing their floats for the theme before the 2020 parade was canceled days before St. Patrick’s Day.

Nearly 100 organizations are scheduled to participate in the parade. A full list of participants are available on the parade website. 

Parking restrictions start at 8 a.m. for the parade staging area and parade route. Road closures begin at 9 a.m.

 

  • 9:00 a.m. – The Parade Staging Area will be closed to non-Parade participants
  • 9:00 a.m. – The intersection of Superior Avenue and East Roadway will be closed for placement of the Reviewing Stand.  Traffic will be diverted around Public Square (Superior Avenue to East 3rd Street to Rockwell Avenue)
  • 12:00 p.m.-12:30 p.m. – Cleveland Police Department will begin closing and barricading cross streets along the parade route
  • By 12:45 p.m., all traffic along Superior Ave. will be closed until the completion of the Parade
