CLEVELAND — Bruce Drennan, a longtime sports broadcaster in the Cleveland area, announced Monday he intends to retire on Dec. 30 citing health concerns. 

Drennan, who currently hosts “Drennan Live” on Bally Sports, has hosted the TV program formerly known as “All Bets Are Off” for 14 years. Overall, he has been a fixture of the Cleveland sports broadcasting scene for decades. 

“Beloved for his animated personality and candid, no-nonsense style, Bruce has spent over 50 years talking sports with athletes, coaches, sports broadcasters and reporters, community leaders and fans,” Bally Sports said, announcing Drennan’s retirement. “Bruce leaves a lasting legacy as one of Cleveland’s iconic sports personalities with a genuine love of Cleveland.”

Drennan addressed his retirement with viewers on Monday. 

“I have been sick. I got rundown, stressed out and as a result, I was susceptible,” Drennan said. “It gave me time to reflect, contemplate with my beloved wife Jackie. As long as I maintain my health and energy level — and there is nothing wrong with the energy level — but my health and your health is the most important thing.”

Drennan said he will continue hosting the show until his retirement. 

“We are going to have plenty of phone calls, plenty of interviews with people on the air and off the air who have been influential and instrumental in my broadcasting career,” Drennan said. “I am excited about it.”
