CLEVELAND — A water main break in Richmond Heights has prompted a boil advisory for several other east Cleveland communities.
The break happened around 3:30 a.m. on Highland Road and Cleveland Water issued the boil advisory around 8:45 a.m. for the following areas:
- Richmond Heights
- Mayfield
- Mayfield Heights
- University Heights
- Gates Mills
- Lyndhurst
- South Euclid
- Euclid
Several homes may be without water temporarily. The advisory is expected to last through Wednesday.
Many schools and some day cares are also closed because of the break, including:
- South Euclid-Lyndhurst City
- St. Paschal Baylon
- Richmond Heights Local Schools
- Millridge Elementary
- Mayfield High
- Mayfield Center Elementary
- Julie Billiart School-Lyndhurst
- Hawken Lower-Mid
- Gesu
- Early Steps Learning Center on Richmond Road
- Corpus Christi Academy
- Apples of Gold Enrichment Center
Cleveland Water recommends boiling the water before drinking it or use bottled water. The break is from a 54-inch water main, according to officials. Crews are currently working to get it under control.
