CLEVELAND — Cleveland’s Shaker Heights Finance Station post office, which was set to reopen in October, officially reopens for business on Monday, the U.S. Postal Service announced.
The station closed last November due to security improvements, USPS said.
The post office’s closure angered residents and local officials.
“This (sic) extremely unfair,” Cleveland City Councilmember Blaine Griffin wrote on his Facebook page. “It is inconvenient for seniors who have to take long rides, take multiple buses and have to walk long distances to go to postal locations at Warrensville Heights or E. 101st and Chester. Families still utilize this post office. Message to the USPS: Open Up!”
USPS issued an apology on May 14 to area residents for the closure, and announced at the time it would open a mobile post office four days a week.
The reopened post office hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a break between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. for lunch. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It will be located at 2855 E. 130th St. in Cleveland.
