CLEVELAND, Ohio — Soon enough, you may hear the ringing of Salvation Army bells.

  • The world's largest kettle bell made a stop at the Salvation Army of Greater Cleveland
  • This year’s holiday goal is $2.7 million
  • This year, the Red Kettle campaign is getting a new electronic giving feature

The organization hosted its annual kickoff for the holiday event on Friday, November 15.

The world's largest kettle bell made a stop at the Salvation Army of Greater Cleveland.

It was announced that this year’s holiday goal is $2.7 million.

Approximately 25 percent of funds are expected to come from the Red Kettle campaign.

The Red Kettles have been around since 1891. And this year, the campaign is getting a new feature — electronic giving.

Former Cleveland Browns player Josh Cribbs, is co-chair of this year's holiday drive and says the process of giving back has been made easier.

“The money that they receive goes right to the people,” said Cribbs. “It goes right to their initiatives and everything they do to affect the community in real time. So, there’s no excuses, technology has made it possible. You can be at home and still effect your community in a positive way.”
