Columbus City Council Member Rob Dorans was inspired to run for office through his parents' example of community service. In his Know Your Electeds interview, he shared that in his family, there was an expectation to "serve where you could." After moving to Columbus, he noticed that many were left behind by the growth the city saw in recent decades. Dorans saw that inequality as a call to public service.
To that end, the thing Dorans enjoys most about his job is positively impacting the lives of people in his community.
If Dorans could have lunch with any elected official, it would be President Franklin D. Roosevelt. His first job was as an aide at a daycare.
