MADISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The United States Geological Service recorded a 2.6-magnitude earthquake in Madison Township early Friday morning, making it the second earthquake to hit the area in less than a week.
A 2.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded late New Year's Day just southeast of Madison.
Friday's earthquake measured a depth of about 3.1 miles, according to the USGS. It was recorded as having a "weak" and "light" impact, meaning many people may not have felt it.
These two are the latest to hit northeast Ohio in the last few months.
On Dec. 1, a 2.3-magnitude earthquake hit just northeast of Madison Township.
In August, Lake County had two earthquakes hit within a week. One was a 4.0, and another was a 2.3, according to USGS.
