HOLDEN, Mass. — A community rallied Saturday around a Rutland firefighter following the devastating loss of his wife and two brand new twin babies.
Calling hours took place Saturday afternoon for Ciara, James and Elizabeth Sullivan, the wife and children of Patrick Sullivan. Ciara and the twins experienced a medical emergency last month. All three were placed on life support, before being taken off on Friday, Dec. 27.
First responders and members of the public paid their respects during a public wake. People from across the state, including Boston, made appearances throughout the afternoon. Dozens lined the driveway and parking lot along the Miles Funeral Home in Holden.
One fire chief said he was encouraged to see such a great turnout, and hopes it brings the Sullivan family some peace after such a tragic few days.
Ciara was 30 years old. The twins were just 11 days old.
