WORCESTER, Mass. - With the announcement on Monday of Becker College closing at the end of the current school year, Clark University is opening a special school for some of Becker's students.
Clark Univeristy is establishing the Becker School of Design & Technology for Becker’s internationally ranked program in Interactive Media Design, Esports Management and Integrated Graphic Design.
“We proudly welcome Becker students to Clark University, and we’re thrilled not only to continue these signature Becker programs, which are already among some of the best in the world, but also to expand them and broaden their scope,” Clark President David Fithian said. “By merging Becker’s strengths in these dynamic areas with the heft of a Clark liberal arts education and our research capabilities, we’re creating an amplified and energized academic experience that uniquely equips our students to confront challenges on a global scale and embrace emerging opportunities in the 21st-century economy. This is a perfect fit.”
Becker's current School of Design & Technology Dean Alan Ritacco and Associate Dean Paul Cotnoir will resume the same roles at the new school at Clark, as well as many faculty members will also be making the transition to Clark.
“With the establishment of the Becker School of Design & Technology at Clark University, Clark is preserving a treasured piece of Worcester’s past while creating unlimited potential for transformative innovation,” Ritacco said. “I’m excited to be part of this inspiring new chapter for our program.”
For the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year, Clark will operate the new school at Becker College’s Worcester campus.
Clark has created a website for Becker students to learn more about the transfer process.
