Summer officially arrives today with the intense heat sticking around for a bit longer!

What You Need To Know

  • Each afternoon will climb into the 90s

  • The mugginess will make it feel even hotter

  • A few showers and storms on Sunday

With a strengthening ridge of high pressure to our east, it will continue to bring in temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above average through the upcoming weekend. Today will be another hot one with highs climbing into the lower to mid-90s. With the humidity, our heat index will be in the upper 90s to near 100 degrees.

The two hottest days ahead will be Friday and Saturday with near record heat possible. Afternoon highs will climb into the mid to upper 90s. The heat index will be near 100 degrees both afternoons.

The northern part of Kentucky is under a Heat Advisory through Saturday evening.

With this being our first heat wave of the season, make sure you take it easy out in the heat and drink plenty of water!

We will be mainly dry through Saturday. A cold front will swing through the area on Sunday bringing a chance for a few showers and thunderstorms.

Behind the front next week, it won't be quite as hot and muggy!
