A slow moving cold front is crossing the state today, and scattered showers & storms can be expected. The best coverage of rain will be this afternoon into early evening, and locally heavy rain is possible. Generally, anywhere from .5" - 1.5" of rain is possible, but some areas could receive more if caught under a slow moving storm. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for parts of Southcentral and Southeastern KY (including the cities of Lexington, London, and Hazard just to name a few).
The presence of the cold front and an upper level disturbance will not only make showers/storms likely today, but it'll also keep the temps cooler due to clouds and rain cooled air. So, highs will be much cooler than the past several days...staying around 80°. However, it'll remain Muggy with dew points in the 70s until the front passes. Then, drier air will settle in... leading to a more comfy feel to the air by Tuesday morning with some sunshine. High pressure will gain control and dominate our weather pattern the rest of the workweek. So, expect days of sunshine (after today) with pleasant low 80s Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon...then warming into the Mid-Upper 80s Thursday into the weekend.
