PENDLETON, Or. — Former University of Louisville and WNBA guard Shoi Schimmel is jailed in Oregon facing multiple charges including felony assault and criminal mischief.

Schimmel who played for UofL and Coach Jeff Walz from 2010-2014, was arrested Monday and is being held on $48,750 bail at the Umatilla County Sheriff's Department. 

According to the sheriff's office website, the 29-year-old is also charged with domestic abuse, menacing, reckless endangerment and harassment.

Schimmel is Louisville's No. 3 career scorer (2,174 points) and helped the Cardinals reach the 2013 NCAA women's basketball championship game before losing to Connecticut. 

After graduating from UofL, the Oregon native was drafted eighth overall by the Atlanta Dream in2014. She played two seasons and played in the All-Star game both years and was named Most Valuable Player as a rookie.  She was traded to the New York Liberty in 2016 and then to the Las Vegas Aces in 2018 where she played two games.

Schimmel's sister, Jude also played for UofL from 2011-2015. Their younger sister, Milan, is a member of the University of Cincinnati women's basketball team.
