LOUISVILLE, Ky. — There's a new voice for the University of Louisville men's basketball team.  Lance McGarvey, a UofL graduate, will call all the home games at the KFC Yum! Center.

McGarvey has already called three games this season and will continue moving forward.

He joins Louisville with a bounty of experience. He is the stadium voice for the Louisville City FC soccer club and will also announce the new National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) team, the Racing Louisville FC. McGarvey is also the host/co-host of Soccer City Radio on WKRD radio (790 AM).  McGarvey has also been a public address basketball announcer for IU Southeast and several sports at Bellarmine and Spalding University.

The 1994 UofL graduate was one of several qualified applicants for the position.  He replaces Sean Moth, the former voice of the Cardinals, who resigned in Aug. 2020.

Sports information director Kenny Klein told Spectrum News 1, McGarvey will only call men's basketball games. They are hiring another announcer to call women's basketball games.  Michael Lattin is the UofL football announcer.

Correction: This article has been updated to correct the initial reference of the Louisville City FC soccer clulb.  It was originally written as Louisville FC soccer club.
