LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Churchill Downs isn't the only Louisville venue preparing to welcome fans. Louisville City FC's Lynn Family Stadium is set to welcome fans later this summer.

The stadium received clearance from Gov. Andy Beshear's office to allow Lynn Family Stadium to open at 50 percent capacity. The stadium can hold as many as 15,304 people.

Stadium operator ASM Global came up with "VenueShield," a program created to help boost the confidence of those attending events during the coronavirus. Stadium food and beverage provider, Levy Restaurants, will also have safety protocols in place to ensure all concession stands are safe for fans.

LouCity's ticket office staff is working to figure out seating locations for season ticket holders that follow the social distancing and reduced capacity rules.

“We have waited a long time for the first match in Lynn Family Stadium, and we are excited that we will be able to have our biggest fans in attendance,” said Mitch Ried, LouCity’s vice president of sales and marketing.

Season ticket holders will be contacted by the team with details on how they can redeem their tickets for matches. Right now there are no individual tickets available, but if and when they do, the team will have an announcement.

The United Soccer League (USL) Championship and the USL Players Association previously agreed to play this season. Clubs are preparing to restart on July 11, but a schedule has not been released.

So what can you expect if you take in a match at Lynn Family Stadium? Here are the guidelines everyone will follow:

  • All areas will be cleaned and disinfected — including handrails, seats, and restrooms
  • Everyone entering the stadium will undergo temperature checks. If you register 100.4° or higher, you will wait 15 minutes in a cool-down area before a second screening. If your temperature is at or above 100.4°, you won't be allowed in.
  • Cloth face masks or coverings will be required. Like most stadiums, only clear bags will be allowed inside. Standard security screenings and metal detectors will continue to be used.
  • Physical distancing markers will be placed around the stadium.
  • Non-contact hand sanitizer dispensers are installed
  • Gates open 90 minutes before kickoff, ticket holders will be given a suggested arrival time and entry point.
  • All concession stands will be cash-free, accepting only credit and debit cards.
  • All concessions will be delivered in closed containers or wrapped. Cups will be served with lids and condiments will be packaged.

Fans refusing to comply with the rules could be removed from the stadium and denied future access.
