Dixon was first elected in 2020. He serves as vice chair of the House Transportation Committee.

"I am incredibly grateful to the people of Henderson County for entrusting me with the privilege of representing them in Frankfort, and I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish over the past three years – lowering the income tax, passing the most responsible budget in modern history and enacting legislation that has made this a better place to live and work,” Dixon said in a release. "This decision was a difficult one, but ultimately the time has come to change my direction.”

Dixon also serves on the House Committees on Agriculture; Local Government; and Licensing, Occupations and Administrative Regulations. He played a key role in helping Kentuckians transition from public assistance programs into the workforce, leading to legislation that created a benefits cliff calculator. In addition, he sponsored legislation clarifying state law to ensure malt-based products could be bottled within the state, resulting in greater job creation for distilleries.

Dixon helped create the Kentucky General Assembly's Aviation Caucus, reflecting the aviation industry's impact on the state.

"We knew Jonathan would be a great member when he arrived in Frankfort and within three years, he’s made a huge impact," said House Speaker David Osborne. "While I regret that he’s leaving the House, I also appreciate what he’s done for our commonwealth and hope to see his name on a ballot again in the future.

"We’ve seen incredible growth in aerospace and aviation, and that’s translating into good-paying jobs and new employers. However, it also means we’ve got to be ready with a skilled workforce. Representative Dixon recognized the importance of keeping this issue at the forefront and pushed to create the Aviation Caucus to ensure we are positioned to take advantage of the potential."

Dixon will continue serving the state's 11th House District through the remainder of his term, which concludes Dec. 31, 2024. The 2024 Regular Session begins Jan. 2.
