LOUISVILLE, Ky. — U.S. Rep. Morgan McGarvey, D-Ky., has launched his re-election campaign to represent Kentucky’s Third Congressional District in the House of Representatives.
“It’s the honor of a lifetime to represent my hometown in Congress, and I’m proud to run for re-election to continue working for Louisvillians,” said McGarvey. “I came to Congress with the same approach from my 10 years in the Kentucky State Senate: fight for my community, stay true to my values, and work to get things done.”
The Democratic representative listed some of his accomplishments in his first term. McGarvey says that includes being the first and only freshman Democrat to pass a bill out of the house, introducing bills to combat child hunger, assistance for young adults and gun safety legislation. He also cited bills that protect women’s rights and provide for working families.
“We have responded to over 30,000 constituent calls and letters, helped bring back $440,000,000 in federal grants and investment to the district, and have assisted over 900 constituents with federal casework. And I’m not done yet,” McGarvey shared.
He said he was grateful for the opportunity to continue representing Louisville and Jefferson County in Congress.
The McGarvey campaign has raised over $750,000 so far and shared a list of over 100 endorsements from elected officials, community leaders and organizations. They include Gov. Andy Beshear, D-Ky., Mayor Craig Greenberg, D-Louisville, former Mayor Greg Fischer, D-Louisville, and John Yarmuth.
Yarmuth, also a Democrat, was McGarvey’s predeccesor, who represented Kentucky’s Third District for nearly 17 years.
McGarvey easily won his first election in 2022, defeating Republican Stuart Ray by over 60,000 votes.
