LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville has its first Republican candidate for mayor. Bill Dieruf, the three-term Mayor of Jeffersontown will make a formal announcement about his candidacy on June 9.
Mayor Greg Fischer has served three terms in office and is term-limited and cannot run for the office.
Dieruf has been president of the Jefferson County League of Cities as well as the Kentucky League of Cities. He is also an accountant and small business owner.
Dieruf is the only Republican to file for mayor so far. There are several Democratic candidates. They include:
- David James, Metro Council president
- Craig Greenberg, businessman
- Tim Findley Jr., pastor and community activist
- Shameka Parrish-Wright, co-chair of The Kentucky Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression
Kentucky's next elections will be held in 2022.
