BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Bowling Green Parks and Rec announced its 10 year ‘Master Plan’ for the city’s parks.

What You Need To Know

  • The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Master Plan lays out park projects in the city over the next 10 years

  • The team is currently compiling community feedback for the plan

  • They plan to include funding for new turf fields at Lampkin Park

  • The city is aiming to have the plan completed by Nov. 2025

Bowling Green Parks and Rec’s Parks Planner, Haley Parrett, and her team are working to bring the master plan to life.

“Within this master plan, we gather community feedback as well as data to help us plan our next 10 years of parks projects,” Parrett said.

The plan could help build new parks or add to existing ones.

The last 10 year master plan the city laid out created the Riverfront Park Project, which is going to be a new water park on Barren River.

People in the community are already sharing their thoughts on what they would like to see.

“We’ve gotten a variety of feedback. Everything for more mountain biking trails, more pickleball courts, the addition of an indoor aquatics facility,” Parrett said.

Parrett said one idea the team is considering is adding more turf fields to Lampkin Park.

The team is using an online survey to collect feedback on the conditions of each park.

“It will ask if you have attended any of our recreational facilities, as well as their condition,” Parrett said.

Bowling Green Parks and Recreation is still drafting the plan, and hopes to have a completed version by Nov. 2025.
