GEORGETOWN, Ky. — It's a problem many across Kentucky are facing: removing from the snow following last week's snow storms before the next storm arrives.
It's also Mother Nature's gift that keeps on giving, as snow continues to fall in Scott County.
For Michael Partin, owner of Ground Up Interior Systems, the snow falling means some extra business and the chance to help others.
"I'm just out here helping people," Partin said. "That's all I'm doing. I really don't care to get anything out of it other than the satisfaction they can get home."
It's a satisfaction that comes from knowing that one good deed could mean the difference for someone isolated by the snow.
"I just did one up there this morning, top of the hill," Partin said. "Her mom has cancer. She had to cancel her cancer treatments and now she already talked to the nurse and they're coming today to come see her mom."
Getting around Georgetown continues to be challenging, but neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night can keep Rick Gates from the swift completion of his appointed rounds.
"It is treacherous out here, going up and down through yards and up and down stairs," Gates said. "It's ice and snow underneath it. You fall right through and you're lucky to get out."
For others, getting out in the snow is the plan.
"It's pretty cool; I like the snow," said Raiden Reed, Georgetown resident. "I also do enjoy being out and being able to go sledding with my friends."
Snow and a good sledding opportunity, maybe not for everyone, but for some.
"It's awesome," said Robert Rice, Georgetown resident. "We haven't had a snow like this in years."
