LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Zoo is getting into the holiday spirit with a monthlong lineup of festive activities. 


What You Need To Know

  • A variety of holiday activities are planned this month at the Louisville Zoo  

  • Named in honor of the zoo's polar bear, "Qannik's Beary Happy Holiday" will return Dec. 7-8, Dec. 14-15 and Dec. 21-22 

  • The season's power couple, Santa and Mrs. Claus themselves, will stop by Dec. 21 and 22

  • Current zoo hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with visitors exiting by 5 p.m. 

For the next three weekends (Dec. 7-8, Dec. 14-15 and Dec. 21-22), the zoo will become a winter wonderland with the return of "Qannik's Beary Happy Holiday." Areas of the zoo will feature holiday-themed enrichment activities and decorations in honor of Qannik, the zoo's beloved polar bear.

The season's power couple, Santa and Mrs. Claus themselves, will stop by Dec. 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for meet-and-greet and photo opportunities. There will also be sweet treats such as cookie decorating and s'mores. 

Finally, guests can embark on a Zoo-wide scavenger hunt, taking place all month, for the chance to complete challenges and win Zoo-themed prizes. Just scan the QR code at the zoo entrance to join the fun.

The zoo said holiday programming is included with general admission or membership. Discounted admission will be offered during Wild Winter Days, running through Feb. 28, 2025. Visitors who bring at least one non-perishable food item per person for Dare to Care Food Bank can purchase tickets for $10.50 per adult and $7.50 per child.

The Louisville Zoo is open daily year-round except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Current hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with visitors exiting by 5 p.m.
