LEXINGTON, Ky. — The No. 12 Kentucky volleyball team clinched its eighth straight Southeastern Conference Volleyball Championship on Sunday evening at Memorial Coliseum, sweeping the Arkansas Razorbacks 26-24, 25-20, 25-13.
It was senior day for the Cats, who are now 13-2 with one matching remaining in the SEC season. Kentucky will play at Missouri on Wednesday evening at 8:30 p.m. ET to conclude the regular season. The match will be shown live on the SEC Network+ and the ESPN app.
With a win over the Tigers, Kentucky would clinch the championship outright. Florida and Texas are both sitting at 11-3, one match back in the loss column with both needing to play two more matches.
Two Wildcats reached double figure scoring Sunday, with Brooklyn DeLeye leading the way on 13 kills. Megan Wilson was only one behind with 12 kills on 22 swings and only one error in the match. Kentucky hit a blistering .312 as a team with a scorching .462 hitting percentage in the third set alone. The defense held Arkansas to just .130 hitting for the match with no Razorback reaching double figures all afternoon.
Molly Tuozzo gobbled up 19 digs to lead all players in the match and Emma Grome collected 10 digs as well. DeLeye racked up her sixth double-double of the season with 10 digs as well, making it three Wildcats in double figures in the digs category. Brooke Bultema added five blocks and Megan Wilson had four blocks to go alongside her 12 kills and pair of digs.
Kentucky’s streak of eight straight SEC titles is the longest of any power four institution in the nation of consecutive championships. It also marks the 13th conference title in program history.
