INDIANAPOLIS — The Colonels are headed to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoffs for the 23rd time in program history.
Eastern Kentucky will face No. 11 seed Villanova Saturday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. in Villanova, Pennsylvania.
The Colonels clinched an at-large bid with an 8-4 overall record, including 6-2 in United Athletic Conference play with wins against then-ranked opponents Tarleton State and Central Arkansas.
The team finished the regular season with a bang, winning five straight games, most recently a 21-15 defeat of Northern Alabama. EKU now has sole possession of the second most FCS/I-AA playoff selections with 23. It is the first time the Colonels have made the postseason since 2022, and head coach Walt Wells joins Dean Hood as the first coach in program history to guide the team to multiple postseason appearances.
The Wildcats went 9-3 in the regular season, including a 6-2 record in Coastal Athletic Association play.
