OWENSBORO, Ky. — Thousands of people gathered in downtown Owensboro for the city’s annual air show.
The show consisted of vintage warbirds, aerobatic demonstrations and military jets, and there was a lot of excitement around the U.S. Navy Blue Angels performance.
The event draws in crowds of about 60,000 to 70,000 people, many from outside of Owensboro who travel to the city for the air show.
“We’re very proud of this event,” said Shaelie Velez, city of Owensboro communications and marketing manager. “We’re very proud of the big crowds that it brings, and it really says a lot that a city of our size can bring in a huge team like the Blue Angels. You can see that brings a huge crowd out here.”
Owensboro resident Joanne Williams attended Saturday's performances.
“We just enjoy it, and it’s awesome,” Williams said. “It’s a good thing going on here in Owensboro.”
It’s a fun yearly tradition for Williams, who has been going since the air shows began more than 10 years ago. She said she hopes it will continue for years to come.
