KyCAD students submitted their work as part of a design competition, and a winning poster, designed by artist Jada Lynn Dixon, was unveiled Sept. 10 during a news conference. Dixon's poster features the iconic St. James Court Fountain and a woman in St. James Court depicted through gentle, flowing strokes of watercolor.

A representative for the art show said it was chosen for "its calming effect and peaceful aesthetic, reflecting the serene beauty that art brings to our world."

"My work is driven by the belief that art is a vital force for bringing people together, offering comfort and celebrating the richness of our diverse cultures," Dixon said. "The St. James Court Art Show, with its celebration of creativity and community, perfectly embodies these ideals, and I am honored to contribute to this dialogue through my design."

"Jada was one of our first graduating artists," said Moira Scott Payne, Kentucky College of Art and Design president. "What amazing work Jada has done over the years with us. You'll see that beauty, sensibility and gentle poetic work in her poster design."

More than 250,000 people are expected to descend on historic Old Louisville for the annual show, set for Oct. 4-6, 2024. From clay to wood, attendees will discover works of art in 17 mediums designed by artists both from and outside of the commonwealth.

Louisville Deputy Mayor David James said the show's annual economic impact is more than $5 million and artist sales are more than $2.5 million annually. Sunshine Artist Magazine also named it the third-best "Best Fine Art and Design Show in America."

"Our focus is on the artists," said Howard Rosenberg, St. James Court Art Show executive director. "We know if we do right by the artists, we will do well as a show."
