LEXINGTON, Ky. — The former executive pastor of LexCity Church has been indicted on seven felony counts, including rape, Attorney General Russell Coleman, R-Ky., announced.

A Fayette County Grand Jury indicted King Aug. 13 on counts of first degree rape, sodomy, unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities, unlawful transaction with a minor first degree with a victim under 18, third degree rape, third degree sodomy and first degree sexual assault.

Coleman said the Department of Criminal Investigations investigated the case with support from the Lexington Police Department, and Assistant Attorney General Todd Willard presented the case to the Fayette County Grand Jury on behalf of the commonwealth.

According to reporting from the Herald Leader, the large church was located off West Reynolds Road near Fayette Mall and had more than 4,000 followers on its Facebook page, which has been deleted after the church voted to close. In a note posted to the church’s website July 10, the LexCity Church leadership team voted to “permanently cease” the ministry. It cited the impact of the investigation and financial struggles as the causes of the closure.
