WARREN COUNTY, Ky. — Two small-town Kentuckians are in the spotlight of a new film right here in the commonwealth.

What You Need To Know

  • Production of a short horror film is taking place in the commonwealth

  • The film, "Caroline," stars two small-town Kentuckians: Sierra Harper and Kendra Morgan

  • It stars two friends and deals with their relationship, as well as everyday elements such as mental health

  • Filmmakers said they hope to eventually show it at festivals, in addition to investors for future collaborations

Sierra Harper and Kendra Morgan both love acting, but never could fulfill their dreams.

“I grew up in a very small town where you just don’t do things like that," Harper said.

Now, they've put their passion into their own hands, writing their own short film, "Caroline."

“Honestly, it’s surreal; it’s our dream," Morgan said. "We really wanted to put ourselves out there to show people what we can do.”

The film stars two friends and deals with their relationship, as well as everyday elements such as mental health. Production is taking place on the outskirts of Warren County, inside a house that was built in the 1800s.

The budget is tight and around $15,000, Harper said; however, that hasn't stopped people from stepping up and volunteering to help with production.

"It's a very low-budget short film, so everybody needs to be wearing multiple hats," said Derrick Huff, executive producer of "Caroline."

The filmmakers said they have the goal of showing the film at festivals, as well as showing it to investors for future collaborations. It will be around 12 minutes long. There is not yet a release date.
