PARIS, France — Louisville Cardinal Jayden Ulrich placed 18th in the women’s discus throw Friday, Aug. 2, at the Paris Olympics, capping off an impressive 2024 season.
The rising senior fouled on her first two attempts before recording a toss of 61.08m (200-5) on her third and final attempt, finishing just outside the top 12 finishers who will compete in the finals Monday, Aug. 5, at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Ulrich is the first U.S. Olympian in program history after placing second in the discus at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in June. She is the 2024 NCAA runner-up in the women’s discus throw, placed fourth in the women’s shot put at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships and was honored as the USTFCCCA Southeast Regional Women’s Field Performer of the Year and the ACC Women’s Field Performer of the Year.
The East Alton, Illinois, native also set outdoor program records in the women’s shot put and women’s discus throw, as well as ACC conference and ACC Outdoor Championships meet records in the discus. During the indoor season, she was tabbed as a First Team All-American in the women’s shot put after placing sixth at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships.
