VERSAILLES, Ky. — The Kentucky Community College and Technical System launched a tool to help students get an accurate picture of their total college expenses after financial aid.

What You Need To Know

  • The Kentucky Community College and Technical System launched a net price calculator for students

  • The tool allows students to get an accurate picture of their college expenses after financial aid

  • KCTCS noted how lower Free Application for Federal Student Aid submissions raised the importance of students understanding their financial aid package

  • The net price calculator went live July 1 and can be accessed through each college's website

Meadow Price is a modern net price calculator and is available across all 16 KCTCS schools. The tool helps students estimate how much it would cost to attend college and how much financial aid they could expect to receive to cover those costs without having to go through the full admissions process or Free Application for Federal Student Aid process.

The school said the tool is “mobile-friendly” and provides quick feedback on the actual cost of college for students curious about whether they can afford to enroll.

“We believe in providing our students with the tools they need to make the best possible decisions about their education,” said KCTCS President Ryan Quarles. “Financial transparency is crucial, and our new net price calculator is a significant step forward in helping our students understand their potential costs so they can plan accordingly.”

Prospective and current students will need to input their financial information to receive a detailed estimate of their out-of-pocket costs, factoring in scholarships, grants and other forms of financial aid.

KCTCS said it chose Meadow Price because of their record for creating mobile-friendly, intuitive and accurate financial tools. It also noted the ease of implementation, data and analytics offered by Meadow Price.

The community college system noted how changes in FAFSA have led to decreased FAFSA completion rates across the country and in Kentucky, raising the importance of communicating to students about their financial aid situation.

The new net price calculator went live July 1 and is accessible through each college’s website.
