What You Need To Know

  • Change Today, Change Tomorrow hosts bi-weekly farmers markets in Louisville's West End

  • It's part of the nonprofit's initiative to address food insecurity in the area

  • Attendees can get a variety of fresh items and attend food demonstrations by chefs

  • The next market is July 14 at 4 p.m.

It's one step the nonprofit has taken to address food insecurity in the area.

“This is the first year we’ve started this, and we’re hoping that the community begins to come out more and (supports) some local artisans and local farmers,” said Rolanda London, Change Today, Change Tomorrow board chair member.

Attendees can get a variety of items at the farmers markets such as fresh eggs and produce.

Chefs also do food demonstrations, teaching people how to make healthy meals.

“The West End, we know, has a lack of access to fresh and healthy vegetables and information," said chef Makeda Freeman-Woods, who demonstrated at the June 30 market. "The farmers market is providing access to those fresh fruits and vegetables, also providing access to information on how you can use those fresh fruits and vegetables and other resources that are at the fingertips of community members."

Change Today, Change Tomorrow’s next West End Farmers Market is Sunday July 14, starting at 4 p.m.
