DeVante Parker, who played for the University of Louisville from 2011-14 before enjoying a nine-season NFL career with the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots, gave back to the community and promoted healthy living among children.

At the DeVante Parker Football Camp July 6, young athletes like Darien Allen of duPoint Manual High School went through multiple drills and polished their football skills in hopes of bringing them back to their local teams.

“Something I look to get out of it is probably ... just getting better and working on my fundamentals and my skills, just trying to improve everything,” Allen said.

Allen said he had been to the camp a few times and enjoys learning from Parker.

“It's for the kids ... just for them to come out here and have fun,” Parker said.

This was the fourth time the camp had come back to Parker's hometown of Louisville.

“Just coming together as a community and doing something good; I think that's what we're doing right here and doing a good job, doing it to the best of our (ability)," Allen said. "And I'm having fun. I think everybody else is, too."

Parker announced his NFL retirement May 20, 2024, just months after signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.
