LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Folk rock legend Neil Young will not take the stage at the Bourbon and Beyond due to illness the festival announced June 26 via X, formerly known as Twitter.

The 78-year-old known for hits such as "Cinnamon Girl" and "Rockin' in the Free World" was set to headline the festival's opening night, Thursday, Sept. 19.

Young and his band, Crazy Horse, said on their website a few members got sick following their May 22 performance in Detroit, and they have still not recovered. All remaining 2024 "Love Earth Tour" dates are canceled, according to Ticketmaster.

"We are still not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break," the band said. "We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again! We know many of you made travel plans, and we apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for your understanding and patience." 

Organizers said they encourage fans to "stay tuned for a replacement announcement." Other headliners include Dave Matthews Band (Friday, Sept. 20), Zach Bryan (Saturday, Sept. 21) and Tyler Childers (Sunday, Sept. 22), with names such as Beck, Matchbox Twenty, Tedeschi Trucks Band, The National, The Beach Boys, Melissa Etheridge and Young The Giant also set to perform over the four-day event.
