Throughout America’s history, bars have offered more than just drinks, serving as a place to unwind, connect and, of course, listen to good music.

In a released statement on Instagram, the Grammy Award-winning artist selected locally owned bar, Larry’s All American Cafe in Covington, as part of its 23-bar preview.

Michaella Ruschau and Emily Booth live near the venue- and heard that their favorite neighborhood bar was selected to stream the new album early.

"I think it’s great so far from what we can tell. we’re here to listen again because we like it so much,” said Ruschau.

Larry’s, which has been open since 2019, organized a week-long event around Bryan’s preview of the Great American Bar Scene. In its first night, over 400 people came out, with a line wrapped around the corner waiting to get inside.

“I’ve never seen so many people here, and it made us very happy,” said Booth. "Yeah, a lot of new faces and excited to be here," Ruschau added.

Among the new faces was Tim Rettig, who drove two hours from Columbus, Ohio to come listen to the songs.

"I love Zach Bryan. I lived in Austin for a year. Fell in love with him. So not a question. Come down to our drive. Have some beers or listen to some good music,” Rettig shared.

Co-owner of Larry’s Stuart Mansell says opportunities like this not only build community but allow small businesses to get their name out.

"We have so many people coming from I heard Oakley, Columbus even but a lot of more local people that didn’t know about us that are in the kind of the Tri-State area, Cincinnati, they got to see what we’re all about,” Mansell said.

And longtime patron Michaela agrees, saying Larry’s deserves the spotlight.

“I think they get a lot of exposure. They’re a great group of people here. They really care about their people and all of their patrons. Everyone that comes in is super friendly. I think I think they’re going to thrive,” she said.

“The Great American Bar Scene” will drop on July 4.
